Dave Vigerust, MS., Ph.D.
Dr. Vigerust received a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso, a master’s degree in microbiology and Immunology from Texas Tech University and a Doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Pathology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Vigerust conducted his first post-doctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Infectious Disease. Dr. Vigerust completed a second post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical School in the Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease and the Center for Vaccine Sciences.
Dr. Vigerust was a full-time faculty member in the Pathology, Immunology and Microbiology Department at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a Health Research Scientist in the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs. He remains an adjunct assistant professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in the Department of Neurological Surgery and graduate faculty at the University of Kansas. Most recently, Dr. Vigerust has served as the Chief Scientific Officer and VP of Immunology and Clinical Affairs for several diagnostic laboratories focused on precision medicine in oncology and cardiovascular medicine, genomics, chronic disease prevention and infectious disease. He has authored more than 4 dozen publications in national and international journals and is active as a speaker, reviewer and editor.
Dr. Vigerust has developed several novel molecular diagnostic assays for the prediction of inflammation and cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetes, infectious disease and cancer. Dr. Vigerust speaks often on the subject of precision medicine, oral-systemic health, and immunology and has previously been selected as a TEDx speaker. In his recreational time, he enjoys cycling, golf, kayaking and spending time with family.
